Tevi’s new Electric Vehicle Tool for business

May 26, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

For businesses interested in adopting EV transportation

Tevi’s work with the Electric Vehicle Challenge Network identified opportunities to help to broaden EV charging infrastructure across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, identifying barriers to deployment such as confusion around infrastructure demands. We have developed a tool to allow businesses to easily identify relevant technology and approaches, and to find the right solution to the needs of businesses in relation to the growing demand for charging infrastructure. The tool automatically locates nearby businesses that have expressed an interest in installing infrastructure locally. This is designed to allow businesses to share costs and minimise the disruption caused by installation.

We performed a wide ranging survey of the kinds of technology available, its costs and technical demands, and appropriateness for different circumstances. These may range from high speed chargers that can charge a car in 30 minutes, to infrastructure to provide energy for electric bikes. This has been built into the app to guide the user to the most appropriate solution.

The tool will point users towards local installers, and will provide a report tailored to the requirements of the business. The tool will also guide users on potential funding streams, such as grants from OLEV, the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles.

Tevi is an ERDF-funded programme supporting Cornish SMEs to grow whist contributing to Cornwall’s environmental growth priorities and circular economy transition. Tevi currently supports over 300 enterprises through bespoke consultancy services, challenge networks and a grant scheme. Tevi is delivered by the University of Exeter in partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Cornwall Council and Cornwall Development Company.
