Introduction and aims
Tevi is delighted to host Julie’s Bicycle, leading creative and cultural sector sustainability specialists, for a one-off workshop specifically tailored towards SMEs in Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. The day’s interactive sessions will also feature Cultivator Cornwall, which as just launched a new round of support opportunities for the county’s creative sector.
Julie’s Bicycle will focus on how creative and cultural enterprises operate in the context of environmental sustainability, including the creative response to climate change. Representatives of the London-based non-profit will cover carbon footprinting, supply chain sustainability and the principles of the circular economy as they relate to creative and cultural sector representatives. Attendees will also be invited to develop a list of mitigating actions, including preventative and awareness-raising initiatives, such as creating an Environmental Policy and Action Plan. Julie’s Bicycle representatives will also introduce their free-to-use online tool for recording and understanding the impacts of cerative ventures, such as venues, offices, tours, productions, events or festivals.
Cultivator Cornwall’s workshop session is entitled ‘Building a Creative Industries Sustainability and Climate Emergency Network’. Jane Sutherland (Director of Cultivator) and Fiona Wotton (Cultivator/Cornwall 365) will introduce the emerging Sustainability and Climate Emergency Network for creatives in Cornwall led by Cultivator, delivered in partnership with Tevi. This will be followed by a design-led, hands-on activity exploring your hopes, fears, needs and interests, which will inform the development of the network and tailored resources to support your creative business.

About Julie’s Bicycle
Julie’s Bicycle (JB) is a London based charity that has been working with the creative community on climate change and sustainability since 2007. In the last decade, we have supported over a thousand professionals and organisations of all sizes and disciplines within the creative and cultural industries to embed environmental sustainability into their work, and to use their influence to amplify climate action across society at large. We have produced over 200 practical resources in consultation across the sector and undertaken extensive research and analysis, including a triennial sector-wide survey (Creative Climate Census), which has given us deep knowledge of sector-specific opportunities and constraints in this field. Recent resources include: renewable electricity procurement factsheet and the Museum Environmental Framework.
Since 2012 we have been Arts Council England’s (ACE) trusted partner to deliver their environmental programme for approximately 850 organisations. This partnership demonstrates our industry-tested expertise and reputation as well as the ability to achieve high impact – such as helping reduce the carbon emissions of the ACE Portfolio.
We are also involved in national and international collaborations providing strategic resources and advice for local authorities and policy makers on how cities can bridge the culture/climate divide. An example is our partnership with BOP and World Cities Culture Forum, for whom we have delivered a policy handbook and are now developing a Creative Climate Cities Framework.
