How will construction materials be used to ensure we Build Back Greener?

December 1 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

We need your help to identify improvements in the construction sector and address how Cornish SMEs can lead the charge to Build Back Better

The UK national agenda to ‘Build Back Better’ and for this to be part of a ‘Green Recovery’ directs all of us across the built environment sector to deliver a genuine improvement in the quality of the built environment which we create. But how is this deliverable?

One of a series, as part of our Challenge Networks, this half-day event will focus on innovations in material production and re-use on construction developments. The session aims to showcase new perspectives on traditional building materials by debating innovative products. The scene will also be set to consider unused materials as resources either on another site or off-site.

Tevi will moderate small, round table discussions with the aim of finding a practical, deliverable solution to issues identified by attendees in delivering the UK’s vision for sustainable construction.

Hosted by Tevi at Trewithen Estate, this session will bring together a number of leading industry figures to present and spark conversations that lead to action.

About Challenge Networks:

A Tevi Challenge Network consists of a group of people brought together to tackle an identified problem; an issue that hinders either progress towards a more circular economy or regeneration of the natural environment. The potential solution could apply for a Tevi Fund grant of up to £6,000.

Past themes have resulted in funded research for alternative mooring systems to protect seagrass, a publicly available tool for EV charging point optimisation and a guide to planting appropriate trees, to name a few.

About Tevi

Tevi is an ERDF-funded programme supporting Cornish SMEs to grow whist contributing to Cornwall’s environmental growth priorities and circular economy transition. Tevi currently supports over 300 enterprises through bespoke consultancy services, challenge networks and a grant scheme. The programme’s circular economy aspects are led primarily by the University of Exeter’s Business School. Tevi is delivered by the University of Exeter in partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Cornwall Council and Cornwall Development Company.
